Research Questions For Business Research Papers

Research Questions For Business Research PapersThe purpose of good research questions for business research papers is to give you a base from which to work. The best research questions should be tied with the research objectives of the research paper and should have the ability to lead to the desired results.Let's take a look at an example: Research Question: What is the primary objective of your business research study? Research Objectives: To further understand customer needs, perceptions, and preference in the next stage of product design; To identify new market opportunities, and what might bring them about; To improve product design and get ready for the next phase of development; To develop short and long term business strategies. Keywords: Why; when; how; where; why not; how to; etc. I think it's fair to say that a good research question for business research papers would be related to the above and be able to answer these objectives as well as many others. Some key words here that may come to mind include 'why', 'when', 'how', 'where', 'why not', 'how long', 'where can', 'do this', 'how much', 'what kind of', etc. Answering these questions can also lead to a brief outline of some key points in the document, such as:The main point to keep in mind when writing an author's business research paper is that you need to make sure that you don't simply paraphrase what others have written. By doing this, you'll most likely come across as plagiarizing. That is not the desired effect. You want your work to stand out from the crowd and be appreciated by the reader. So, let's go back to our simple example again. It makes sense to include the question to find out what the reader wants to know, but it makes sense to continue your research and ask the specific questions that are relevant to your topic, such as, 'What is the primary objective of your business research study?' Then follow up with 'Explain further the research objectives and follow up questions.'Then you mu st outline your main topic in your question, such as, 'What is the primary objective of your business research study?' Or, 'Explain further the research objectives and follow up questions.' Then follow-up with 'Explain the market opportunity in the next phase of product design.'Of course, that way you have just outlined the research questions for your document, which will help you in putting together a good research question for business research papers. Then your question for your summary paragraph should be, 'Explain further the business strategy in the next phase of product design and development.'Now you have put the question in the summary paragraph for your research paper, and then you are ready to start the research questions for business research papers. And all the research questions in that case should relate to the topics and objectives that you outlined in your outline in the first paragraph. And you could take it a step further and consider doing research on those topic s and objectives, but keep it short and simple.

Interview with Med Student and Blogger, Healthy Happy Me(d)

This interview is the latest in an Accepted.com blog series featuring interviews with medical school applicants and students, offering readers a behind-the-scenes look at the med school application process. And now, introducing a third year Canadian med student in Australia, Phillippa†¦ Accepted: Wed like to get to know you! Where are you from? Where and what did you study as an undergrad? Whats your favorite non-school book? Phillippa: I am from a lot of places but I call Victoria, BC, Canada home. Prior to living there I lived in smaller, more rural areas of BC as well as South Africa! My dad was born there and we used to visit often, but spent about a year living there back when I was 10, so I consider South Africa a piece of where I am from. I went to the University of Victoria for undergrad and studied Kinesiology (known as exercise science here in Australia). I really enjoyed my undergraduate degree! It was interesting both as a career option and also for my own personal benefit, it definitely made me more fit and health conscious. My favorite non-med book is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I read it every year and have 5 copies because every time I see a different version with an interesting cover I have to buy it. Accepted: Can you tell us about your journey to med school? When did you decide you wanted to pursue a career in medicine? Phillippa: My journey to med school was a tough one (whose isn’t though?). When I graduated from high school I wanted to be a writer, med was not even on my radar. I had struggled with my high school sciences and really didn’t think it was an option for me. But I ended up hating my first semester of writing and made the switch to kinesiology as soon as I could. It wasn’t until about two years into kinesiology that I realized med could be on the table for me. However, I still hadn’t reconciled with the hard sciences. Of course all of the exercise, physiology and anatomy based sciences I loved and excelled at, but my chemistry, physics, biochemistry and calculus marks were horrendous despite hours of study and tutoring. Unfortunately most Canadian medical schools have a minimum grade cut-off for many of the prerequisite core sciences and I wasn’t making the cut, despite having straight A’s in all of my kinesiology courses and a high GPA overall. The year I graduated I decided that I would apply to Australia for med and if I didn’t get in I would redo all of the courses that didn’t meet the minimum cut off for Canadian schools. I ended up getting into my first choice Australian medical school, the University of Wollongong and decided to accept and run with it. Accepted: Why Australia? Phillippa: I considered both Ireland and Australia for medical school. Both countries have higher match rates in Canada then the Caribbean schools and if I was going to study abroad I wanted to make the path home as hurdle free as possible. I chose Australia in the end because of the particular school I got into. It has a rural general practice focus, which is what I imagine myself doing, and I have extended family in the country, which helps with the homesickness! Accepted: Whats your favorite thing about living on the other side of the globe? Least favorite? Phillippa: My favourite part is that it has forced me out of my comfort zone. I am a homebody at a heart, I did my undergraduate degree in my hometown because I didn’t want to leave the comforts of home and I love weekends with my family. Moving across the globe has forced me to stand on my own two feet. If you told me 5 years ago I would be as far away from home as I could possibly get I would not have believed you for a second. But now here I am and I feel stronger and braver for it. I have also loved having the opportunity to live in and explore another country as a temporary resident. Australia is beautiful and wild and I am so grateful to have had the chance to experience it! The worst part is of course the fact that I am a homebody and I do struggle with homesickness daily. It is very hard to be separated from the ones you love and not able to pop home for a quick weekend visit. Especially in times of stress when exams are looming, sometimes all you want is a weekend at home! Accepted: Looking back at the med school application process, what would you say was your greatest challenge? How did you overcome that challenge, and how would you advise others who may be facing similar challenges? Phillippa: My biggest challenge was silencing the voice in my head that kept telling me I wasn’t good enough or smart enough. In my heart I believed I could do it, but my brain kept reminding me how much I struggled in some of my science courses. My brain kept whispering doubt into my mind and it was hard to push that doubt aside and follow my heart. To be honest it wasn’t until about 6 months into first year that I was finally able to convince myself I was good enough and I was smart enough and I could do it. I think that just came with experience and realizing everyone else was just as scared as I was. Seeing myself learn and succeed slowly boosted my confidence and now I know for sure I can do it, I just have to work hard and stay focused. My advice to anyone else who is plagued with self-doubt is to focus on your dream and trust yourself. Study hard and believe that you will get there, it might be via the â€Å"scenic route† but even if it takes three years of rejection letters before you get in or a move to another country, if med is in your heart fight for it! Accepted: Do you have any residency plans yet? Phillippa: I’m not quite at this stage yet, I am hoping to do family medicine back in Canada but I have considered staying here as well. In Australia there is an intern year before training programs start which we don’t have back in Canada. I am still learning about all of my options right now, so you’ll have to check back in about a year! Accepted: Where do you think youll end up long-term? Do you plan on returning to Canada? Phillippa: Ultimately I would like to end up in Canada. I do love Australia and I am so happy I chose to study here, but it is very hard to be so far from family so ultimately I plan to make the trek back home. I imagine I will probably come back here later in my career for an extended working holiday, I don’t think I’ll ever leave Australia behind permanently! Accepted: Can you tell us about your blog? Who is your target audience? How have you benefited from the blogging experience? Phillippa: My blog is a bit of a mix of my personal med school journey, fitness, nutrition, science and positive thinking. I originally started the blog to inspire other prospective medical students who decided â€Å"late in the game† to pursue med, the ones who didn’t have the ideal GPA or the best prerequisite grades but who felt in their heart and soul that they could be a good doctor. My love of fitness and food comes through in everything I do so it seemed natural to allow my blog to be influenced by my passions. One of the reasons I loved my undergraduate degree was that it empowered me to inspire a positive change in people and their health. Now that I am not working in the fitness field I hope to motivate people to stay fit and eat healthy through my blog. You can read more about Phillippa’s med school journey by checking out her blog, Healthy Happy Me(d). Thank you Phillippa for sharing your story with us! Do you want to be featured in Accepted.coms blog, Accepted Admissions Blog? Reaction Paper Ten Commandments Essay Example For Students

Reaction Paper: Ten Commandments Essay I cant totally comment on the hole movie because we are not able to finish watching it due to limited time. But I can still remmember when I saw this movie since I was a kid, because were fun of watching this kind of movie during holy weeks, and this was also played in televisions in that time. The Ten Commandments is an incredible epic drama based on the Book of Exodus from the Old Testament. Although Im not at all religious in the traditional sense, I love this movie for the storyline, acting, and even special effects, which seem primitive by todays standards but are nevertheless quite impressive. The Ten Commandments is a moving tale of how the Hebrews escaped slavery in ancient Egypt and went on to form their own nation. Thus, this movie is mainly about the struggle for freedom as well as the price of maintaining it. Although the story is thousands of years old, The Ten Commandments, which is basically just a movie adaptation and expansion of the Book of Exodus, is still quite relevant. There are still parts of the world where peoples are being exploited by other peoples, and The Ten Commandments should be an inspiration to those oppressed to strive toward freedom. This freedom always comes at a price, however. For the ancient Hebrews, the price was to follow the Ten Commandments, which became adapted into Judeo-Christian law and custom. Nowadays I think that only four or five of the Ten Commandments actually apply to modern society because people today are evolving and liberating thus, others don’t follow The Ten Commandments maybe because of ignorance, though the other four still seem to serve us well. In any case, we will always need a law to govern ourselves, and Im pretty happy with our constitution now.

Napoleon Essays (539 words) - French Emperors, House Of Bonaparte

Napoleon Evaluate Napoleon Was he a success or a failure? Support your thesis with five well-developed examples. Despite his Italian origin and short stature, Napoleon Bonaparte rose to become not only the greatest leader of France but also one of the most innovative and successful military commanders in all history. The emperor was beloved by his military and respected by his citizenry. After his education at Brienne and ?cole Militarie, Napoleon initiated his military career as an artillery officer. Eight years later he became a brigadier general with the success of the recovering of the port of Toulon from England, thus holding the power to control hundreds of soldiers at the youthful age of 24. At the Battle of Austerlitz, Napoleon demonstrated his overpowering military tactic of Divide and Conquer. Through the use this technique, Napoleon was able to overcome the far more massive and far more powerful armies of Russia and Austria. This tactic dictates that the army must separate the enemy into two or more groups but fight as one distinct army. In this way, Napoleon defeated two larger armies causing the enemy to have many more casualties than his own military. Napoleon along with his colleagues overthrew the French government and helped to establish the Consulate where he would be seated as the first consul. The Consulate served to abolish hereditary privilege, which many of the Revolutionaries fought sought. After the abolition of the Consulate and the establishment of the Napoleonic Code Napoleon stated, without distinction of birth or fortune would anyone ever receive a political position. Rather, citizens would receive consideration for positions of high office based solely on merit. Also, under the new law, everyone was equal. In this way Napoleon was successful; for, the Third Estate was pleased in that their goals for the Revolution and the Cahiers de Dolences were finally redressed. However, Napoleon upset those of noble blood, because, rather than simply inheriting a position, they would now have to compete with hose of lower class in order to assume the office. The soldiers under Napoleon most definitely appreciated the empire and its military conquest. Upon his return from exile on Elba, Napoleon was marked an outlaw by the Congress of Vienna. The Congress and the restored French monarchy ordered that Napoleon be apprehended by the French military; however, Napoleons soldiers remained loyal to their former commander. Instead of seizing the outlaw, the soldiers returned the emperor to his throne, executing Louis XVIII. The loyalty expressed by the soldiers is similar to the situation in which the army under Napoleon was suffering great losses in Russia. Rather than risking the loss of their military commander in their own flight, Napoleons elite French guard, on horseback, sacrificed themselves to the oncoming Russian attack to protect their leader in escape. Overall, because Napoleon suffered defeat due to one erroneous decision, to continue through Russia, despite the approaching winter, he is often considered a failure; however, this military genius intercepted France from its downward spiral towards oblivion and restored it to a world power and a military threat. All of these tasks were completed with the loyalty of the military and the respect of the people. History Essays

Qualitative Research Definition and Methods

Qualitative Research Definition and Methods Qualitative research is a type of social science research that collects and works with non-numerical data and that seeks to interpret meaning from these data that help us understand social life through the study of targeted populations or places. People often frame it in opposition to quantitative research, which uses numerical data to identify large-scale trends and employs statistical operations to determine causal and correlative relationships between variables. Within sociology, qualitative research is typically focused on the micro-level of social interaction that composes everyday life, whereas quantitative research typically focuses on macro-level trends and phenomena. Methods of qualitative research include  observation and immersion, interviews, open-ended surveys, focus groups, content analysis of visual and textual materials, and oral history.   The Purpose of Qualitative Research Qualitative research has a long history in sociology and has been used within it for as long as the field itself has existed. This type of research has long appealed to social scientists because it allows the research to investigate the meanings that people attribute to their behavior, actions, and interactions with others. While quantitative research is useful for identifying relationships between variables, like, for example, the connection between poverty and racial hate, it is qualitative research that can illuminate why this connection exists by going directly to the source the people themselves. Qualitative research is designed to reveal the meaning that informs the action or outcomes that are typically measured by quantitative research. So, qualitative researchers investigate  meanings, interpretations, symbols, and the  processes and relations of social life. What this type of research produces is descriptive data that the researcher must then interpret using rigorous and systematic methods of transcribing, coding, and analysis of trends and themes. Because its focus is everyday life and peoples experiences, qualitative research lends itself well to creating new theories using the inductive method, which can then be tested with further research. Methods of Qualitative Research Qualitative researchers  use their own eyes, ears, and intelligence to collect in-depth perceptions and descriptions of targeted populations, places, and events. Their findings are collected through a variety of methods, and often, a researcher will use at least two or several of the following while conducting a qualitative study. Direct observation:  With direct observation, a researcher studies people as they go about their daily lives without participating or interfering. This type of research is often unknown to those under study, and as such, must be conducted in public settings where people do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy. For example, a researcher might observe the ways in which strangers interact in public as they gather to watch a street performer.Open-ended surveys: While many surveys are designed to generate quantitative data, many are also designed with open-ended questions that allow for the generation and analysis of qualitative data. For example, a survey might be used to investigate not just which political candidates voters chose, but why they chose them, in their own words.Focus group: In a focus group, a researcher engages a small group of participants in a conversation designed to generate data relevant to the research question. Focus groups can contain anywhere from 5 to 15 participants. Social scientists often use them  in studies that examine an event or trend that occurs within a specific community. They are common in market research too. In-depth interviews: Researchers conduct in-depth interviews by speaking with participants in a one-on-one setting. Sometimes a researcher approaches the interview with a predetermined list of questions or topics for discussion but allows the conversation to evolve based on how the participant responds. Other times, the researcher has identified certain topics of interest but does not have a formal guide for the conversation, but allows the participant to guide it.Oral history: The oral history method is used to create a historical account of an event, group, or community, and typically involves a series of in-depth interviews conducted with one or multiple participants over an extended period of time.Participant observation:  This method is similar to observation, however with this one, the researcher also participates in the action or events in order to not only observe others but to gain the first-hand experience in the setting.Ethnographic observation:  Ethnographic observati on is the most intensive and in-depth observational method. Originating in anthropology, with this method, a researcher fully immerses herself into the research setting and lives among the participants as one of them for anywhere from months to years.  By doing this, the researcher attempts to experience day-to-day existence from the viewpoints of those studied in order to develop in-depth and long-term accounts of the community, events, or trends under observation. Content analysis:  This method is used by sociologists to analyze social life by interpreting words and images from documents, film, art, music, and other cultural products and media. The researchers look at how the words and images are used, and the context in which they are used to draw inferences about the underlying culture. In the last decade, content analysis of digital material, especially that generated by social media users, has become a popular technique within the social sciences. While much of the data generated by qualitative research is coded and analyzed using just the researchers eyes and brain, the use of computer software to do these processes is increasingly popular within the social sciences. Pros and Cons of Qualitative Research Qualitative research has both benefits and drawbacks. On the plus side, it creates an in-depth understanding of the attitudes, behaviors, interactions, events, and social processes that comprise everyday life. In doing so, it helps social scientists understand how everyday life is influenced by society-wide things like social structure, social order, and all kinds of social forces. This set of methods also has the benefit of being flexible and easily adaptable to changes in the research environment and can be conducted with minimal cost in many cases. The downsides of qualitative research are that its scope is fairly limited so its findings are not always widely generalizable. Researchers also have to use caution with these methods to ensure that they themselves do not influence the data in ways that significantly change it and that they do not bring undue personal bias to their interpretation of the findings. Fortunately, qualitative researchers receive rigorous training designed to eliminate or reduce these types of research bias.

Describe the relivance of the material covered in chapter 19_32 to Research Paper

Describe the relivance of the material covered in chapter 19_32 to your current career ambitions.Begin the assignment describing - Research Paper Example In light of the topics in these fourteen chapters, this paper seeks to evaluate how my career ambitions get shaped. Introduction My career ambitions incline towards being an Electrical and Electronics Engineer. This is a technical career that will place me in charge of designing, developing, testing and supervising of electrical equipment which includes power generation equipment, communication systems, radar and navigation systems and electric motors as cited by the US Bureau of Labour Statistics, BLS. The work primarily involves employment in research and development, electric power generation firms, manufacturing firms and engineering services firms. Of these, I look forward to securing employment in an electricity generating firm. Out of the practising Electrical and Electronics Engineers, 10% work in industries dealing with generating, transmitting and distributing electric power, which is where I belong. Though this work generally involves being indoors, site visits would be un dertaken as need be so as to solve problems in complex equipment. The textbook, Physics, by James Walker provides an appropriate guideline into facts about energy from the perspective of physics. But the fourteen case chapters, starting from chapter 19 through to chapter 32 concern electricity, basically giving in-depth discussion into electric charges and forces, gradually developing on this to subsequent chapters. Being an interrelated topic, the author appreciates its relationship with magnetism. Chapter 22 explains how electric charges cause the creation of electric fields which result in magnetic flux, the basis of magnetism. This also informs the introduction of electromagnetic waves in chapter 25 that mandates the discussion on optics in subsequent chapters. Since electricity has varied sources, Walker (2420) introduces atomic physics in chapter 31 that culminates with a discussion on nuclear physics in the last chapter. Therefore, as a prospective Electrical and Electronics Engineer, I get all-round knowledge on electricity and its relation to other fields in physics. As indicated by BLS, designing and developing electrical equipment partly constitutes the task of an Electrical and Electronics Engineer. Therefore, it would be paramount to know how electricity is sourced, generated, measured and distributed so as to determine the design of these equipments. The basis of this understanding lies in the knowledge of action of electric charges covered in chapter 19 so as to understand how their electromagnetic interaction would affect equipment assembly. For instance, since Walker (2076) appreciates that friction causes electrification, then, such action should be considered when designing electrical equipment. When designing electricity measurement instruments, I now know that what in essence would be measured would be the electric charges, whose SI unit is the coulomb, C, though Serway and Jewett (768) observe that a majority of electrical engineering ins truments would use the ampere-hour, Ah units. Similarly, the knowledge on charges will play a critical role when testing electrical equipment and when supervising, these being other core responsibilities of an Electrical and Electronics Engineer. The static electricity that exists when objects of different equilibriums are brought close to each other according to Walker (2089) should guide in choosing which objects should come into contact with each other. Joseph Andrews and Abraham Adams Essay Example for Free

Joseph Andrews and Abraham Adams Essay Such devotion is clearly evident in Adams, not only because of his position as a clergyman but also in his actions. During an episode in which Joseph and Adams are in great danger, Adams devotion to God is proven. Adams now fell on his Knees, and committed himself to the Care of Providence . Joseph is likewise devoted to God. he still settles himself to the wishes of God, making his devotion clear Mr. Abraham Adams was an excellent Scholar. He was a perfect Master of the Greek and Latin Languages In comparison to the normal human of the time, Adams seems to be more intelligent. The first meeting between Adams and Joseph depends upon Josephs similar aptitude for learning compared to similar people his age. After questioning Joseph about several subjects, Adams declares that, he answerd much better than Sir Thomas, or two other Despite their many similarities, Adams and Joseph differ on several points. One of them is their view on schools. The essential debate comes down to the quality of British public schools. Joseph Andrews throws his support towards public schools. Adams holds a different opinion on this matter, however, which coincides with his position as a clergyman and his devotion to God. Public Schools are the Nurseries of all Vice and Immorality. All the wicked Fellows whom I remember at the University were bread at them, Josephs willingness to contest Adams opinions shows that they must differ in some ways. The simplicity of Adams character is evident in his gullibility compared to Joseph. During one episode, they are promised several extravagant offers by a gentlemen who pretends to be sympathetic to their Case. After giving several excuses that prevent him from following through on his promise, Adams still doesnt understand the situation. This must be a sudden Accident, as the Sickness or Death of a Relation. Adams honestly believes that the man had intentions of honoring his promises. Joseph is less gullible, and know that the man has been playing with them.. Joseph sees through the lies he is being told and falls back upon his greater experience of the world than Adams. Throughout Joseph Andrews, the relationship between Adams and Joseph forms an important element of the story. Their great friendship brings them through difficult times and benefits them both. This friendship is composed of both their similarities, which help them get along, and their differences, which allow each of them to expand the others world view. The relationship would not be as dynamic without the interaction derived from these similarities and differences. In comparison, they devote themselves to God, rise above their peers in moral character, and posses greater learning than their peers. In contrast, they differ in their views of schools and their gullibility

The Hardships Facing Vietnam War Soldiers in Tim OBrien’s Going after

The Hardships Facing Vietnam War Soldiers in Tim O'Brien’s Going after Cacciato and In the Lake of the Woods The Vietnam War was, mentally and physically, one of the most brutal the United States has ever participated in. Our soldiers had to undergo daily miseries and sufferings which wore on them in body and mind. Dysentery was a common cause of physical wasting. Other diseases combined with the continuous rain and mud caused flesh to rot and made daily life that much more insufferable. Long periods of boredom would be broken by unexpected guerilla attacks or booby traps. The enemy rarely materialized long enough to be actively fought or even identified. Equally uncertain as who they were fighting was the answer to the question of what purpose they were fighting and dying for. All of these hardships the soldiers faced caused an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and constant fear. To counter this sense of despair, the soldiers had many ways of coping with or avoiding the reality of the war. Tim O’Brien, with Going after Cacciato and In the Lake of the Woods, addresses th...

Three Major Exceptions

Employment-At-Will Doctrine Employment-At-Will Doctrine: three major exceptions From my research of this topic it Is obvious that the united States Is still the only industrialized nation that lacks a national wrongful dismissal statute. The reason for the lack of such is not of course the federal structure of the united States. In the United States, employees without a written employment contract generally can be fired for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all; Judicial exceptions to the rules seek to prevent wrongful terminations. The employment-at-wil doctrine is not without ts limits.Terminations initiated by the employer must not be discriminatory or in violation of specific federal or state laws. This is a good example of employment -at- will doctrine the employer is legally prohibited from taking any adverse employment action against an employee because of his or her race, gender, age. disability, national origin, or any other legally protected characteristic or activity. Like so many other people and workers in the united States we believe that satisfactory job performances should be rewarded with other benefits and job security. As an mployee you feel that you won't get fired if you perform your Job well but this has eroded in recent decades in the face of an increased incidence of mass layoffs, reductions in company's workforce, and Job turnovers. In the last half of the 19th century, employment In the united states has been at will or terminable by either the employer or employee for any reason whatsoever. The employment-at-will doctrine vows that when an employee does not have a written employment contract and the term of employment is of indefinite duration, the employer can terminate the employee for good cause, bad cause, or no cause at all.The courts viewed the relationships between employer and employee as being on equal footing In terms of bargaining power. It is believed that the employment-at-will doctrine reflected the belief that people should be free to enter into employment contracts of a specified duration, but that no obligations attached to either employer or employee it a person was hired without a contract. Because employees were able to resign from positions they no longer cared to occupy employers were permitted to discharge employees at their whim. As you notice the industrial revolution planted the seeds for the erosion f the employment-at-will doctrine. When employees began forming unions, the ‘Of3 collective Dargalnlng agreements tney negotlatea wltn employers Trequently naa provisions in them that required Just cause for adverse employment actions, as well as procedures for arbitrating employee grievances. These protections reflected the changing view of the relationship between employer and employee. Rather than seeing the relationship as being on equal footing, courts and legislatures slowly began to recognize that employers frequently have structural and economic advantages when negotiating w ith potential or current employees. It is the recognition of employment as being central to a person's livelihood and well-being, coupled with the fear of being unable to protect a person livelihood from unjust termination, led to the development of common-law, or Judicial, exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine. The three major exceptions to the employment-at-will doctrine is principally address terminations that although they technically comply with the employment-at-will requirements, do not seem Just. Another exception prevents terminations for reasons that violate a State's public policy.Another recognized exception prohibits terminations after an implied contract for employment has been established; such a contract can be created through employer representations of continued employment, in form of either oral assurances or expectations created by employer handbooks, policies, or other written assurances. Finally a minority of states has read an implied covenant of good f aith and fair dealing into the employment relationship. The good faith covenant has been interpreted in different ways, meaning that terminations must be for cause to eaning that terminations cannot be made in bad faith or with malice intended. There are only six western States that recognize all three of the major exceptions and three southern States that do not recognize any of the three major exceptions to employment at will. Remember the public policy exceptions is when an employer may not fire an employee if it would violate the state's public policy doctrine or a state or federal statute. This includes retaliating against an employee for performing an action that complies with public policy as well as refusing to perform an action hat would violate public policy. There are forty-three U.S. states and the District of Columbia recognize public policy as an exception to the at-will rule. In conclusion suits seeking damages for constructive discharge in which an employee alleges th at he or she was forced to resign, and for wrongful transfer or wrongful demotion have increased in recent years. Accordingly, nowadays employers must be weary when they seek to end an employment relationship for good cause, bad cause, or, most importantly, no cause at all.

Video Games I. The Video or Computer Game Industry The now multi-billion dollar video game industry starting slowly. In 1972, Atari developed Pong, a simple tennis-like game played on the television screen. Pongwas followed by Space Invadersin 1978 (Griffiths 223). Since then, thousands of games are available over the Internet, on CDROM for personal computers, hand-held units, and television console units like Playstation, Nintento, and Sega. Further, the market has developed beyond just entertainment, now providing educational games that make learning fun. For instance, when the player advances to another level or chooses a new environment, a new set of bit-mapped images is loaded into ROM. RAM (Random Access Memory) is used to store bit-mapped graphics, statistics such as score, and a â€Å"scratchpad† for keeping track of â€Å"where the player and [virtual] opponents are in the simulated environment, or generating new, random obstacles† to challenge the player (251). Parameters, such as choice of character the user will play, vehicle, environment (setting or location, such as track, building, open area) and current location within the environment, weapons, opponent, and mission, are stored in RAM until the player either saves or saves to a file upon exiting the game. In either case, the parameters can be recalled by the user within a game session or upon reinitialization of the game, by selecting the game file name under which they are stored (which has a game file extension specific to the game). Once game play commences, the player undertakes challenges in order to advance.
